- Impaired neuromuscular transmission in Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is caused by the presence of antibodies to the acetylcholine receptor. AchR Antibodies are present in up to 90% of patients with active myasthenia gravis. They may be undetectable in 40% of patients with ocular myasthenia.
