Pathology partnership

Established in 2021, Synnovis is a partnership between SYNLAB UK & Ireland, Guy’s and St Thomas’, and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, developed to transform pathology services in south east London.

Investing in cutting-edge technology

SYNLAB’s £100 million investment into this transformation means that today Synnovis operates from one of the largest purpose-built pathology ‘hubs’ in the UK, filled with cutting-edge technology and world class talent. Supporting this hub in Blackfriars, London, are six Trust site Essential Services Laboratories (‘spokes’) which focus on the rapid turnaround of urgent tests, such as those needed for A&E departments.

Our team of more than 2,300 brings together science, clinical and operational expertise to serve almost two million patients and 191 GP practices across 249 locations in south east London.

Innovation is in our DNA. We work hard to foster a dynamic, forward-thinking culture, by supporting continued investment in diagnostic development, nurturing talent and igniting potential.

We seek ways to advance scientific and clinical practice in the field by providing relevant training, funding research and aiding development.

We empower scientists and supports initiatives that inspire laboratory service innovation, whilst our ‘Future Leaders in Innovation’ programme helps to encourage ideas and nurture the brightest young talent to help them reach their potential.
