Based at hospital sites across or network, our blood transfusion laboratories provide 24/7 blood bank services and support for transplantation teams. They perform testing and matching services, supply standard and highly specialised blood components, and offer clinical transfusion support.

Our cancer genetics laboratory delivers a nationally and internationally renowned molecular diagnostics service for haematological and solid cancers. These tests support clinicians across primary care, hospital wards, emergency departments and specialist services.

Our clinical neuropathology laboratory provides a high-quality, wide-ranging diagnostic service and carries out research into disease of the nervous system. It also has close connections with hospitals and scientific institutions in the UK and abroad.

Our clinical transplantation team provides a comprehensive service in support of a variety of solid organ transplant programs, including, renal, pancreas, heart and lung transplantation.

Our dermatopathology laboratory is part of the St John’s Institute of Dermatology and known as a centre of excellence for dermatological specimens. The team are experienced in a wide range of histological based investigations with both formalin fixed and fresh tissue material.
