- Description
- Parathyroid hormone (PTH) plays a significant role in calcium homeostasis. Its main functions are to stimulate osteoclastic bone resorption; increase renal resorption of calcium; reduce proximal resorption of phosphate and increase 1α-hydroxylase activity.

Serum or EDTA plasma
- Storage and transport
For external samples, please transport frozen. Cell-free serum is stable for 8 hours at 15-25°C, 2 days at 2-8°C and 6 months at -20°C. Plasma is stable for 2 days at 15-25°C, 3 days at 2-8°C and 6 months at -20°C. For sample shipment, samples should be stored frozen. Repeated freezing and thawing of samples should be avoided (freeze only once).
