Haemophilus Influenzae (IgG) antibodies
- Description
- This antibody is one of a group of antibodies commonly referred to as “functional antibodiesâ€. The others in this designation are anti-pneumococcal and anti-Tetanus toxin. Functional antibodies are used to assess the capacity of an individual with suspected immunodeficiency to respond to challenge immunisation. When used to assess challenge immunisation a pre-challenge and a 4-6 weeks post-challenge blood sample is required. This test measures IgG antibodies to H. influenzae type b capsular antigens. The protective level is reported as 0.15 µg/ml and the optimal level > 1.0 µg/ml.

All tests are compromised by prolonged transit times. For this reason, date of bleed and date of postage must be provided with each request. Immunisation history with dates must be given with all requests for Specific Antibodies, serum stored at 4°C should be sent by first class post.
