- Direct detection of the FGB -148C>T promoter polymorphism.
- Clinical details
- This polymorphism is associated with elevated plasma fibrinogen levels, with individuals with the TT genotype having significantly higher levels than CC individuals. There is an established association between raised fibrinogen levels and the risk for myocardial infaction (MI) and coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the association between FGB -148 and MI or CAD is less clear.
