SYNLAB UK & Ireland:

SYNLAB Acquires Geneius.

Published: 3rd July 2017

SYNLAB, the leading provider of medical diagnostic services in Europe, announced the acquisition of Geneius.

This acquisition extends SYNLAB’s repertoire of food and specialist microbiology testing services in the UK, as well as complementing the range of specialist testing across the Group’s wider European lab business, deepening the expertise and customer offering.

Geneius is a science-led business that delivers solutions to provide total reassurance across the production and supply chain. Geneius is a market leader in investigative microbiology using bespoke DNA analysis and aims to be the first choice provider for quality led analytical testing in the food and beverage, biotechnology, chemical, environmental, cosmetic, healthcare and consumer products sectors.

As part of the deal, SYNLAB will continue to support growth of the laboratory, to expand the repertoire of services and leverage its wider expertise across Europe to expand commercial opportunities. The Geneius management team will continue to lead the business and will join the wider SYNLAB specialist food, drink and industrial testing leadership team in the UK.

Dr Stuart Quin, CEO of SYNLAB UK commented that: “The acquisition of Geneius Laboratories continues SYNLAB’s expansion into specialist diagnostic testing services in the UK, as well as enhancing our broader capabilities across Europe. Geneius will enable SYNLAB to deliver an exceptional repertoire of high-value, innovative molecular tests to a wider range of customers in the UK and beyond”.
