SYNLAB UK & Ireland is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr John Burke as Chief Medical Officer. This appointment is pivotal to the advancement of our clinical strategy as SYNLAB remains at the forefront of advancing diagnostics in the UK.
John joins SYNLAB from AXA where he served as Chief Medical Officer from 2023. With degrees from University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences and University of Oxford in Medicine, John’s medical career spans neurosurgery, trauma, intensive care, emergency medicine, general medicine, psychiatry and paediatrics.
He also brings with him experience as a GP Trainer working closely with Primary Care Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and later Integrated Care structures. He has also contributed to clinical governance, prescribing, safeguarding and service redesign.
John’s experience across frontline clinical practice and leadership roles in both the NHS and private healthcare organisations is an indisputable asset for SYNLAB UK & Ireland. I am delighted to welcome him to our team, and very much looking forward to seeing him thrive in this new role.
