Laboratory Analyst

Part of SYNLAB UK & Ireland, Lextox are a UKAS accredited laboratory based in Cardiff. Lextox specialises in providing drug, alcohol and DNA testing services for family law cases and childcare proceedings. SYNLAB holds a trusted position in clinical laboratory and medical diagnostic services in the UK.

We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Analyst to join our Laboratory team in Cardiff, on a full time and permanent basis. Applicants are expected to have knowledge of ISO17025 and have previous experience of working in a laboratory setting.

Hours: 40hrs a week / Monday – Friday / shifts between 7am-3:30pm / 8am-4:30pm / 9am-5:30pm

The Role:

  • Performing hair sample sectioning according to Laboratory Management’s instructions.
  • Preparing sample batches for analysis.
  • Adhering to Lextox Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and accurately completing laboratory documentation.
  • Performing routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to maintain quality standards.
  • Upholding the confidentiality of the information obtained in the course of analysing samples within the lab, and refrain from disclosing such information without written consent, except where disclosure is required by law or by a court order.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified at a Degree level – Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, instrumentation and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • A strong focus on service and quality with good problem-solving skills.
