SYNLAB UK & Ireland:

Coronavirus update from SYNLAB UK & Ireland’s Chief Executive

Published: 11th June 2020

Thanks to the enormous efforts of our workforce, SYNLAB has continued to provide a full range of laboratory, diagnostic and testing services throughout the pandemic. It has been a very difficult period for most industries and businesses, so I am particularly pleased to see the activities of our partners and customers increasing steadily over the past month.

From the outset, we have endeavoured to make an important contribution in the fight against coronavirus. Our laboratory in the South West was quick to introduce COVID-19 testing, and we are now undertaking antibody testing from our laboratories in Essex, Somerset and Wales. We are also working with customers on a number of initiatives to help get their own colleagues back to work safely.

The pandemic has enabled us to demonstrate a true collaborative spirit across SYNLAB. Colleagues from across our varied services have worked together to provide essential support to the front-line. We have seen veterinary colleagues assisting our human medicine laboratories with COVID-19 testing and distributing samples, and our laboratory site in Abergavenny has become a national distribution centre, helping to get essential testing supplies and PPE to our network of laboratories across the country.

The last few months has truly emphasised the valuable role our services play, not just in keeping people safe and well, but also in enabling essential industries to keep going, like power, water, transport, family law and the food industry – services which, before the pandemic, many people might have taken for granted.

I would like to thank all our partners, customers and colleagues for continuing to support SYNLAB UK & Ireland. As always, we are doing everything possible to maintain the essential services you need, as well as helping to keep the nation running during these unprecedented times.

Best Wishes,

Arnaud Gueny
Chief Executive
