SYNLAB UK & Ireland:

SYNLAB Primed to Help Steer NHS’s COVID Bounce Back

Published: 13th October 2022 - All information correct at time of publication.

SYNLAB is ready to play a key role in assisting the UK’s ongoing COVID recovery after securing membership of NHS England’s Increasing Capacity Framework (ICF).

SYNLAB is now an official Framework Provider, allowing an NHS Trust or NHS Foundation Trust to award a contract more quickly and easily – without the need for a lengthy and complex procurement exercise – when additional high-quality pathology services are required.

The framework can therefore provide valuable additional capacity for Trusts, for example to clear post-pandemic testing backlogs or to meet winter pressures.

As pathology supports the diagnosis of illness and devising new treatments to fight viruses, infections and diseases, removing roadblocks that hamper the NHS’s ability to access additional testing capacity is critical.

Via its four existing NHS pathology partnerships and state-of-the-art laboratory network, SYNLAB is dedicated to improving patient care by offering faster, more consistent and higher-quality testing services which help speed up diagnoses and clinical decision making.

SYNLAB has actively supported the national effort to fight coronavirus since the early days of the outbreak, for example by providing the NHS with 24/7 COVID-19 testing and undertaking a series of clinical trials in partnership with the NHS to evaluate the use of ‘antigen’ testing.

We are delighted to have gained membership of the Increasing Capacity Framework.

SYNLAB’s registered and accredited laboratories not only host the most advanced technology available but are operated by our hard-working and highly qualified colleagues. This means we can meet challenging turnaround time targets while maintaining the highest levels of service quality.

We are proud to be working with the NHS and are acutely aware of the ongoing challenges faced by the organisation in the aftermath of the pandemic. The flexible services we offer can be tailored to meet individual Trust requirements for either short or long-term support, and we look forward to working to delivering much-needed additional testing capacity for both new and existing partners in the future.
